INVIDEO 1999 "On the eve of a new millennium, Invideo is one of the most original and prestigious exhibitions dedicated to video and new media in Italy". This is above all because over the years it has developed its own critical direction acting as both an observor and promotor of that which is, in terms of video art, different and complex at the same time. |
UNCOMMON PLACES |
|
INVIDEO 1998 "This year the observatory focused once again - after the panorama of 1997 - on Italian production 'intertwining' it with new work from various other countries. It deliberately juxtaposed Italian videos with those from the rest of the world throughout the various sections". As always the original intention remained the same: "The desire to be amazed by the view of 'others', the search for works revealing an original, visionary eye; a determined view undaunted by audiovisual technology and the much imitated television". |
THE FORMS OF VISION |
|
INVIDEO 1997 "Year after year, INVIDEO is an extraordinary observatory of how international production is changing and evolving: entire genres are born and others disappear, new themes arrive on the scene. Words, images and music constantly change places in a way which is not easy to analyse. Over these last two years, the trend has been for longer format works of increasing complexity, while the borders between narration, abstraction and documentation have narrowed". Drawing on the above, the title The forms of vision reflected on the increasingly unstable and exiguous border between cinema and video and the intertwining of the arts. |
An Italian Year in Video A year of Italian video: experimentation, research, historic memory, portraits, artist videos, music, dance, a tribute to cinema, new technology and video installations. |
Taking their cue from the unorthodox nature of Italian video which moves poetry and sophistication, the directors of Invideo, in collaboration with filmmakers, decided to dedicate an entire programme to the scene. The event, from this year onwards, would give an opportunity to explore new trends and deepen reflections on the subject. |
IN VIDEO 1993 The second edition of INVIDEO focused on works that mixed "fiction, an experimental legacy and a literary and figurative tradition". The programme sections included travel diaries, video dance, artist portraits selected from both the Italian and international scene. |
