Salita alla montagna Etna con visione del fuoco, by Giuliano Scabia and Maurizio Conca
Poem, story, theatre, legend, travel. And more. Giuliano Scabia travels down roads and lanes, goes through woods and meadows and villages on a journey towards Etna and its fire. His voice accompanies us, with words that evoke myths, «fairies, knights and nocturnal poets», narrated poetically and softly, together with the humble and ancient art of going, looking and thinking. Scabia advances “on horseback”, the paper maché horse Belengheli, which he made himself. «The journey to Mount Etna,» wrote Antonio Costa, «is the journey of the word towards the image. It is the journey of words that make us see beyond what we can see. Whilst the images make us hear what the words do not say.»
Giuliano Scabia (Padua, 1935) is a poet, playwright, director and actor, a central figure and innovator of Italian theatre and of unforgettable experiences (you only have to remember Marco Cavallo and the collaboration with Basaglia). He has written many novels, volumes of plays and poetry.
Maurizio Conca (Dolo, 1956) is a photographer and documentary-maker and over the years has followed various theatre experiences by Scabia, as well as curating exhibitions dedicated to his work.
