FOR THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF VIDEOART
Videoart celebrates its 50th anniversary: its date of birth is generally considered to coincide with the exhibition at the Galerie Parnass in Wuppertal, Germany, at which Nam June Paik presented TV monitors with modified images: it was the discovery of an abstract form of TV, an image that could be manipulated live. INVIDEO participates in the anniversary with an initiative that is part of the “American autumn” promoted by the Milan Municipality. In fact, Korean-born Paik developed his work mainly in the USA.
Marco Maria Gazzano, one of the leading scholars of Paik and of electronic images, a lecturer at the university of Roma Tre, presents a series of rare and unknown works by the artist, tracing the path of international videoart. A program of works by pioneers of videoart from the INVIDEO archives completes this homage to an art form that continues to be full of life.

Performance: TV Crashing by Giacomo Verde
«At a time increasingly dominated by the untouchable, immaterial nature of images, it becomes necessary to move to tactile experiences and an exchange between seeing and touching, saying and doing. Breaking up television sets to recycle the pieces in small, creative works which can be constantly altered is not a definitive, heroic gesture (fortunately the world is too complex) but simply one more gesture that can be drawn on for a tactile and debunking experience (is there anyone who has never dreamed of destroying a TV set?)». (Giacomo Verde)
