A.I.A.C.E. – Milano has as a mission both the production and the promotion of artistic works based on new technologies use and youngsters education.
Thanks to a fruitful cooperation between IED, Istituto Europeo del Design, and A.I.A.C.E.-Milano, some video-installations especially conceived by IED students will be presented at the Fabbrica del Vapore during Posti di Vista, the major event organized by FDVLAB at the Fuorisalone of the Design Week.
The theme chosen for Posti di Vista 2012 is RI-CREAZIONE, meant as a process of transformation of ideas, objects and situations. From this concept A.I.A.C.E. - Milano and IED director, Rossella Bertolazzi, proposed the teacher and the students to develop the theme of the City. The way we were, the way we are and the way we'll be in the future; the way we'd like Milan to be, and in particular, Sarpi area. IN_ITINERE is a virtual path among interactive installations leading the public in a trip between time and space; an itinerary, more then an arrival point, between past, present and future.
Four teachers (Painè Quadrelli, Davide Sgalippa, Paolo Solcia and Mery Glez), professionals in different multimedia fields (IT, music, audiovisual production), have followed their students while creating video-installations on the topic proposed.
During the first semester some students have applied themselves in order to create their first interactive works.
The installations, which match the opportunities offered by new technologies to narration in order to create new forms of interactive expression, allow the audience to think about the issues proposed exploiting their recreational and entertainment features.
After three months the students have presented the results of their research to a selection committee made of A.I.A.C.E. and IED representatives. Among the installations proposed have been selected the following works:
CITTA' IDEALE//CITTA' REALE_looking at Milan, through the contrast between an ideal city, needing people to take shape, color and sound, and a real city, the city to be found inside sterile buildings, echoing the stories of its dwellers.
UPROOTED_a time travel to a historic district of Milan, Via Paolo Sarpi and the new China Town. The
voices of local residents will bring forth remembrances from their past as travel companions, conjuring up images of places that have by now been completely transformed. Projections of material from the archives will show the profound changes that have occurred, in the evolution of the area. Electricity is the key to the exhibition. The participants will be able to view from a window in the room the former ENEL building.
The installations can be seen at the Palazzina Liberty from 10:00 to 21:30 from 17 to 22 April 2012
