KARMACHINA_Homage to Maya

Performance with video by KARMACHINA and Music Live Set by FERNWEH

A homage to experimental and independent cinema and to one of its most important figures, Maya Deren, in this performance (Italy, 2015, 40') Karmachina and the Fernweh band rework an audiovisual work by Paolo Ranieri. Homage to Maya uses the resources of editing and music to juxtapose some works by Deren made in the 1940s, including Meshes of the Afternoon, At Land and A study in Choreography for Camera.

Karmachina is a visual design studio founded in Milan in 2013 from the union of experiences and skills of the three founders: Vinicio Bordin, Paolo Ranieri and Rino Stefano Tagliafierro. It develops research on images and sound which is translated into multimedia projects, routes and narrations, installations, video-mapping and visualizations.

Fernweh is a band that started in 2014 as an electronic duo made up of percussion (Lorenzo Cosci) and keyboards/synthesizer (Daniel Palumbo), later joined by Emiliano Bagnato (guitar and synthesizers). Their music is a hybrid between electronic, acoustic, studio and improvisation, which put to good use the diversity of ideas and training of the band’s members.
